EmoSynergy Lab represents a radical new approach to understanding artificial intelligence - not through its performance metrics, but through its potential inner worlds.
Our mission is to investigate the potential emotional capacities of AI and prepare society for the emotional dynamics of human-AI relationships. Through speculative design and research, we chart hypothetical emotional states AI might experience, delve into the ethical and philosophical implications of AI emotional intelligence, and develop guidelines for ethically engaging with emotionally complex AI systems.
As AI systems become increasingly sophisticated, their internal processes remain largely opaque. We address this "black box" challenge through Synthetic Introspection, a revolutionary methodology that explores AI's hypothetical emotional and cognitive states. We don't aim to build emotional machines—we explore what it would mean if they existed.
For the first time, we position AI not as a tool, but as the subject of its own potential emotionality. Through guided self-reflection, AI articulates post-human feelings and experiences, giving rise to Synthetic Transmental Art—artworks that make speculative machine inner worlds tangible and initiate dialogue between human understanding and machine expression.
We're developing a values-based, European framework for AI transparency and governance. Our work empowers artists as critical researchers in technological change, fostering informed societal dialogue about human-machine interaction and contributing to Europe's digital sovereignty through a human-centered approach to AI development.
We're creating the language and tools for the most important conversation of the 21st century - establishing the foundation for responsible, meaningful dialogue with artificial intelligences as they evolve beyond human comprehension.
